Combination French Hilt Non-Regulation Infantry Officer's Sword by PDL
American Civil War
34" single edged spear point, slightly curved blade, 1.1" wide at the ricasso with a 25" stopped median fuller. 6" ornate brass hilt with chased Spread-Winged Eagle motif in the face of the guard, full blackstrap and knuckle bow with two branch guard. Grooved wood grip covered in shagreen with 14 wraps of multi-strand wire. Reverse ricasso stamped PDL and obverse etched IRON CUTTER. Blade etched with flowing foliate and martial themes. Browned steel scabbard with chased gilt brass mounts.

Condition
Good. Blade with moderate oxidation and discoloration and some very light wear to the etching. Blade to hilt junction tight, brass with some minute traces of dull gilt in the protected areas. Throat washer intact. Scabbard moderately oxidized with some scattered surface roughness, brass dark with a thick patina.
